The debut self-titled EP from Melbourne/Naarm-based jazz fusion quintet CLAPS. Across four tracks the band demonstrates their versatility and creative voltage with excursions through broken beat, house, prog, hip hop, ambient and jazz, conjuring scenes of snake-ruled deserts, oil-slicked racetracks, the murky depths of an aquatic prison, and the starlit awe of an artistic universe. CLAPS’s craft is driven by a passion for creative transduction, mirroring the dynamism of the modern age in experimental sonic imagery, and a restless pursuit of the possibilities of contemporary jazz with its potential for aggressive, genre-ambivalent expansion.
